The End Of Nazism
The Nazi Party started facing several issues, their main concern was the outside world finding out about the horrible conditions that Jews were experiencing in the concentration camps. They knew that if the atrocities happening in the camps were discovered they would face revolts and issues with foreign countries. Being that , precautions had to be taken whenever any of the allied forces were near a concentration camp , the guards were to evacuate them by either killing the prisoners or forcing them to march long distances until they reached the nearest safe camp where they would not be found. The goal was to eradicate any proof that would reveal the horrifying truth behind the concentration camps therefore those who could not keep up with the long journey were shot by guards and left on the road. These evacuations became to be known as the death marches.
Despite their effort, on July 23, 1944 Russian troops invaded and freed the Majdanek concentration camp, shocked by what they found, they decided to invite the International Red Cross to document the horrifying occurrence. After that the world’s focus was turned to the camps all over Europe, Allied powers worked together to free more camps and so they did. By April 15, 1945 all the camps were freed by American, British and Russian troops. Shortly after in April 30 of the same year, Hitler commits suicide in Berlin, fearing he would be convicted of the many crimes he committed and given a death penalty . Then by 1947, many of the Nazi officials were put on trial, those who were found guilty of participating in the torture and murder of the 6 million Jews were sent to prison and given death penalties., Finally after many years of injustice the nazi party came to an end , the allied forces successfully terminated its influence from every aspect of German life. The swastika flag became a symbol of evil since then .
The interminable waiting took its toll on our nerves. We had never been so impatient not even through all the years with no hope of rescue.
